The Challenge

As the “home tech” market becomes saturated with competitors trying to solve the same problem, Arlo needed to change how it visually presented its suite of products that gave its customers a peace of mind.

The Approach

In order to fully understand what Arlo was looking for, the team at Envoy established 4 different approaches to the future look & feel of the new Arlo website: Protection, Home, Technology, and Open

My role:

I was brought into Envoy to create the “Open” concept for the Arlo re-design. I helped the team solidify the interaction models for each of the other concepts.

Iterate, iterate, iterate

Work fast and lean, being okay with letting go and crafting new designs quickly

Over 30 different variations of the Open Concept were done, along with type and color explorations.

Concept 01: Open

This concept doesn’t use any full bleed images to create sense of openness and friendliness

 Concept 02: Product

A focus on the Arlo family of products and how the work together to deliver peace of mind.

 Concept 03: Technology

Emphasis on the powerful tech that powers Arlo’s security system with a minimalist interface.

Concept 04: Protection

Using natural gradients and more home imagery to show how Arlo protects what you love.

Key Takeaway

These concept designs never made it past the initial phase as the project was put on Hiatus. The team at Envoy crafted 4 elegant solutions that showcase the breath of our design knowledge. Our agility in producing concepts that felt real and to capture a new vision for Arlo is something to admire.

For me as a contract designer being apart of this project, allowed me to be okay with taking feedback and readjust when needed. “Let it go”
